The following is the news headlines as reported in the German "Rheinische Landeszeitung" newspaper October 1941............

1st October 1941 A British offensive in Africa fails.


Finland: Soldiers have luck fishing

2nd October 1941 British land 7.000 soldiers at Freetown. Russia admits the loss of Poltawas and lose 354 aircraft in five days!

3rd October 1941 Announced that Britain lost 683.000 tons of shipping in September. The Italians take 8.000 POWs in Africa.

That is the new command flag of a Wehrmacht Generalfeldmarschall.

4th October 1941 The Führer holds a major speech in the Berlin Sportspalast during the opening of the Winter Relief Fund. Talks of major victories. Other news, the RAF lost 15 aircraft.

5th October 1941 The RAF lost 476 aircraft in Africa over the last week, the Luftwaffe lost only 40 during the same week. Stukas attack Tobruk. Soviets lost a transporter ship, 20.000 tons.

6th October 1941. In two days the Germans take 210 bunkers on the eastern front. South Ukraine 12.000 POWs taken. Plans for the rebuilding of Russia are announced.

7th October 1941 Soviet forces try to land west of Leningrad, forces destroyed.

The Führer visits the OKW. Hitler, Keitel, Halder and von Brauchitsch

8th October 1941. London worried about German advances in Russia.

9th October 1941. On the eastern front the breakthrough in the centre. In the south Ukraine six to seven Soviet divisions have been destroyed. Waffen-SS reach  Mariupol.

10th October 1941. On the eastern front Timoschenko´s army has been destroyed.

11th October 1941. On a broad front the Soviets have fallen back up to 500 kilometers.

12th October 1941. Most of the 9th and 18th Soviet armies have been destroyed. Since the 26th September some 106.365 POWs have been taken.

13th October 1941. Advances all along the 12000 kilometer eastern front

Gauleiter Florian opens the Autumn Art Exhibition in Düsseldorf

14th October 1941. Brjansk and Wjasma bring over 350.000 Soviet POWs. London worried about an invasion of England.

15th October 1941. Soviet prisoners taken now number some 500.000.

16th October 1941. In Brjansk the Soviets lose 888 armoured vehicles and 4133 artillery pieces.

17th October 1941. German troops are in front of Moscow and Rumanians have reached Odessa

18th October 1941. Soviet ships trying to escape Odessa lose 30.000 tons.

19th October 1941. The double battle of Brjansk and Wjasma has ended in a German victory, 648.196 POWs taken.

20th October 1941. Street fighting in Taganrog (Ukraine).

21st October 1941. Victories for German and Italian air forces in Africa.

22nd October 1941. The Baltic States have been cleared of enemy.  Island of Dagö taken. Moscow, Lenningrad and Liverpool bombed. Stalino captured and U-Boats sink 38.200 tons of shipping.

23rd October 1941. Moscow bombed day and night. Luftwaffe shoot down 16 RAF aircraft.

Traffic in Odessa is back to normal, although there is a lot of flooding

24th October 1941. Stalin lets heads roll, many senior officers killed or in GPU prisons.

25th October 1941. Shortage of US shipping, Britain must hand back 40 Tankers. 266 Soviet divisions have been destroyed.

The River Ugra has been crossed and after filling in anti tank trenches, the advance on Kaluga (Moscow Front) continues.

26th October 1941. Charkow has been captured. Moscow bombed.

27th October 1941. Donez area occupied.

28th October 1941. Mussolini will fight on until final victory. In the Donez area a Soviet counter attack was defeated by the Italian forces in Russia.

Dr.Goebbels 15 years Gauleiter in Berlin (since 1926). During this time 1430 NSDAP members died fighting on the Berlin streets. 

29th October 1941. German troops capture a major tank factory

A little bit of snow does not worry man or beast, they know the word of the moment "Forward!"

30th October 1941. SS-Sturmmann Christen surrounded and cut off alone. kept firing the anti tank guns for five days, destroying 13 Soviet tanks.

31st October 1941. Further advances in the Donez area. More advances in the Crimea and Leningrad under artillery fire.

The first snow falls, but it will not hold up the advance
